Marketing for Therapists

I spent over 8 years working in marketing before becoming a counsellor.

Having worked on both sides, I now help other therapists to develop their marketing skills and connect with the clients they work best with. I’ve worked with group practices, solo practitioners, and interns who are looking to build their caseload and find a marketing strategy that works.

What do therapists struggle with?

  • You can see that people are looking at your website but they aren’t booking consultations

  • You’re on all the directories - Psychology Today, Counselling BC, Inclusive Therapists, BCACC’s directory - but you never/rarely get clients from them

  • You see other therapists recommended by ChatGPT or Claude and you’re not sure how to get your website to show up there too

  • You’re afraid to niche down because you don’t want to limit yourself or turn potential clients away

  • You’re not sure who to network with beyond other counsellors and need some guidance

  • Social media feels scary because you don’t know what to post and whether it’s even worth it to start

  • The potential clients you get on consult calls with are not a good fit

  • You feel weird about marketing because it doesn’t feel like something a therapist should have to do

How can a marketing consultant help?

  • Guidance on how to write website copy that’s clear, confident, and encourages potential clients to book a consult call

  • Optimize your directory profiles so that you stand out from other counsellors, reach your ideal clients, and get them to contact you

  • Learn about Ask Engine Optimization (AEO) and how you can show up when people search for counsellor recommendations on Claude or ChatGPT

  • How to experiment with a niche without doing a full rebrand

  • Help finding the language that captures what makes your approach different

  • How to communicate your niche in a way that shows clients you understand them

  • Guidance on how to create a referral strategy that consists of mutual referrals (other counsellors) as well as primary and secondary lead sources (other professionals)

  • What you need to get started on Instagram and education on the different types of content to post

  • Better confidence about a marketing strategy that actually works
